THE BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) — A man wrapped a belt around a woman’s neck and dragged her unconscious body between two parked cars before raping her on a Bronx street, according to police and a viral video.

The 45-year-old woman was attacked near 152nd Street and Third Avenue at around 3 a.m. on May 1, according to the NYPD. The woman was walking down the street when a suspect came up from behind and looped the belt around her neck, the viral video shows. (Warning: graphic video)

The man, who covered his face with a white towel, then used the belt to pull the passed-out woman several feet along the sidewalk and into the street between two parked cars, the video shows. Police said the suspect then raped her.

The video shared on social media does not depict the entire assault. There have been no arrests, and the investigation is ongoing.

There have been 511 rapes and an uptick in other sex crimes citywide so far in 2024, according to the latest NYPD data. The most rapes this year were reported in Brooklyn (149), followed by 141 in the Bronx, and 114 in Queens, police said.

There have been 1,715 reported sex crimes through May 5, compared to 1,684 in the same time last year, according to the stats.
