Illinois Man Wanted for Murder Apprehended in Charles City

An Illinois man wanted for murder was apprehended last weekend in Charles City.

Shortly before 7:30 pm Saturday (05.04) night,  Charles City Police responded to the area of C Street and 7th Avenue for a report of multiple people fighting. Their investigation led to the arrest of 27-year-old Haniff Caldwell of Rockford, Illinois, on a valid Cook County arrest warrant for homicide -willful kill with gun and assault. 

According to court documents, a warrant for Caldwell’s arrest was filed in Cook County, Illinois, on February 21st, but it does not indicate when the alleged crime occurred or the victim involved. The warrant did classify Caldwell as armed and dangerous.

Caldwell is being held without bond in the Floyd County Jail.

CCPD was assisted in taking Caldwell into custody by the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office, and the Iowa State Patrol.
