Bishkek, October 16 / Kabar /. The observer mission of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization recognized the election of the president of Kyrgyzstan as open, free and democratic. Rustam Alimov, Secretary General of the SCO, announced this at a press conference in Bishkek.

According to him, the elections in the Kyrgyz Republic met the requirements of national legislation and international norms.

"The mission did not notice violations that would call into question the legitimacy of the election results. In general, the electoral process provided equal conditions for all candidates. We note that the presidential elections in Kyrgyzstan were held using a new electoral model and new technologies. I mean biometric identification and automatic-reading urns," he said.

One of the important components Alimov noted was the preparedness of the operators and election commissions for the elections.

"It should be noted that each voter was given the opportunity to check himself on the list in advance. We want to note the active participation of citizens. During our stay at the polling stations, no complaints were received from the citizens," he added.

The SCO observers arrived in Kyrgyzstan a month and a half ago. On election day, they visited 189 sites in 5 regions of the country.

The Presidential election in Kyrgyzstan has won Sooronbai Jeenbekov with result of 54,2% on Sunday, October 15, 2017.
